Since 2005, Signs of Learning has been empowering families to communicate with their babies and young children, even before they can speak.

Our Mission

Signs of Learning nurtures potential in an educational, language-rich, and playful environment where babies and young children as well as their parents, teachers and caregivers learn the basics of American Sign Language. Signs of Learning provides workshops, classes and personal instruction designed to empower children to express their needs and feelings before they can speak.

Jess does an amazing job integrating songs, toys and movement into her classes. She helped me feel confident signing with my baby and to also have the patience for my son to realize his gestures had meaning. Signing cut way down on shrieking and crying when my toddler wanted something because with signing I could respond faster and more accurately. It’s amazing to have a baby tell you whether he wants water or milk... or ask politely for more crackers while at the dining table. I cannot recommend Jess highly enough.

Philosophy

Signs of Learning believes that this system of communication can open a channel for a deeper connection between children and their parents, educators and caregivers. By integrating American Sign Language (ASL) into daily routines relationships between adult and child can be strengthened and frustration can be significantly reduced.

Signs of Learning stands behind the research that shows ASL enriches children’s speech and language, boosts vocabulary, increases self-confidence, reduces frustration and stimulates intelligence. Signs of Learning is committed to providing quality services that will support the well-being of the families it serves.
